www.skdtac.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=36 anybody use this or a similar one. I have a tactical class coming up and I need to hold some extra mags but really don't want a full blown tac vest. tia |
Since I didn't want to say it myself for the 1001st time, I quoted. I don't think it can be beat for the money. |
|
I purchased one when they first came out, I've been very happy with it. But I also have some of the same problems with it like thet pistol mag flaps. I also had an X harness made by STS Gear, which is a great inprovement to the rig. If anybody wants pics let me know. Polytech |
I've seen that harness. I'd be interested in the pics and how you set it up |
|
It is an excellent rig. Fits various rifle magazines well. Carries well. Only drawback to it is the pistol magazine pouches are designed for 9mm (Berretta or Glock) and do not fit double stack 45 ACP mags very good if trying to use the velcro retention straps. I preferr SKD because the molle ends allow me to add a pistol and dump pouch on both ends instead of the standard pouchs on other versions of this chest rig. ETA: magazine comments and dump pouch |
| I ordered one from SKD,it should be here Friday.Looks like a nice chest rig.SKD actually shipped it out an hour after I placed my order.I liked the SKD versionbecause it does not have the MBITR specific pouches.I can add whatever pouchesthat I want to the rig. When it comes I'll post some pics of it. |

This is a great SHTF rig. Is it made for full out combat? Could be, but we're not in a combat zone. Add a couple of mag pouches like I did and you are carrying more than the basic combat load. You also have the 4 pistol mag pouches which makes it a very versatile rig. You can wear a backpack with it, or a Blackhawk Cyclone/Tsunami - Camelback Mule/Hawg and you have the hydration and gear aspect well covered. All of that in a neat, compact, and well designed package for $75.00+ bucks. Most gear like this is running $150.00+++++++++++++ |

New from Eagle: CR-M4-MS-LE![]() As basic as you need it, or add your own pouches for that custom touch. The M4 pouches are the plastic lined FB style. www.triadtactical.com |

As many here have said, it is a good rig (especially for the price). It is well made and will stand up to abuse and heavy usage. My only "beef" with it is the pistol magazine pouches. They are not as snug as I would like (Sig P226 mags) and I would prefer individual flaps for each pistol mag pouch (instead of the double flap). When going to reload a pistol mag, it is difficult to not accidentally knock the other mag out of it's pouch. Again, my gripe is small, it is a good rig for the money. |
I'm not one to hack up a good piece of equipment, but couldn't we just cut the magazine flap right up the middle? That would make the mag pouches seperate and shouldn't affect the durability. They seem to be made pretty tough? |
That's what I was thinking. Then you could just melt the nylon edge you cut with a lighter and be done. |
|
I did just that, but melting the edges was not as effective as I had hoped. The type/thickness of nylon used for the flaps is not really conducise for melting a clean edge. To do it right, you would need to sew an edging over the melted edges. In a pinch, the cut/melted flaps work, but, it is not a good, permanent solution. |
How many AR mags does it hold? |
