Gents

After reading  many posts and talking to some of my fellow Marines, I finally made the plunge and ordered a Greek M1 Springfield SG and a 1903A3.

Do you guys have any suggestions and any hints on what I need to look for?  I am looking for a shooter not a collector.  I am not into dust collectors.  Where can I get M1 Clips for the M1?  Any good places to read about the 1903A3?

  Thanks again,
    Max

I was in the same situation last month and made almost the exact same order as you!!!  I decided to go for the USGI service grade Springfield Garand and the Remingtom 1903A3.  I got nice weapons, but had to send for an exchange on the stock on the Garand as it had a big crack in it.   Metal and bores were nice.  I got my supply of clips by buying an ammo can of the KA (corrosive) headstamped Korean surplus ammo from Aim Surplus......376 round on 47 clips in bandoleers and an ammo can for $69.95 (plus another $28 shipping to Ca.)  I need to get a Garand combo tool with some chamber brushes now.  The Garand got here pretty much ready to go....no cosmoline.  The 1903A3 had most of the exterior cosmoline wiped off, but there was a LOT under the wood when I took the stock off.  I also later added one of the H&R M12 single shot 22 lr trainers to my order and it is really nice.  I may get another one of them.  I got lucky this month and got some of the 200 Winchester 52D rifles that recently sold out....for this batch anyway.  Now I need to get some of the Remington 40X trainers if they get some more returned from the Army.
