I am in the process of getting a M1 from CMP and would like to know what grade you would get to shoot and have fun with...I dont want junk but just want one to shoot. So what grande???

My requirements were the same as yours and I went with a Service grade due to better bore conditions.

I eventually got both. I started with a USGI field grade, was very happy with it, and bought a service grade as well. I have replaced the extractor on the field grade, and the service grade is prettier, but I'd be happy with either.
