I just got back from my first trip to the CMP North Store and I didn't come back alone! I got my first M1Garand and it's mostly H&R with a SA trigger guard but no matching serial numbers on any of the H&R parts. I'll post pics in a day or so when I get her cleaned up. They're out of Greek with en bloc clips but the guy said they should have more in friday or next week if anyone cares to know. This is definitely the most beautiful rifle I've ever owned and I can't wait to fire it! |

How was inventory at the North Store (excluding the ammo)? Since it was my first time there I don't know how it normally is but they seemed to have a decent amount of rifles. For the Garands, they mostly had H&R in service grade but had SA in rack grade and they only had 1 correct grade on the shelf. As for pics... I took some but haven't yet figured out how to post them |

Anyone planning on running up there in March needs to do it in the first two weeks. I received a e-mail from them stating that they will be closing the stores the last two weeks of March to try and catch up on some of the backlog. They are getting in 3-5 times the normal amount of orders what with the Obamination getting in office. They will reopen the stores in April.
"no matching serial numbers on any of the H&R parts" M1 Garands do not have serialized parts per say. They have drawing numbers on many of them to denote which level revision the part is at. Virtually all Garands have gone through rebuild at some point in their lives so the parts are unlikely to be original to the rifle unless you buy a Correct or Collector grade rifle. Thus the term " typical Garand mixmaster". Enjoy the heck out of your Garand. I took one of mine out to the range on Friday along with a lightweight AR build. The Garand beat me up nicely, and I enjoyed every minute of it. |
