Does anyone know if I can use a marriage certificate or a DD214 instead of a birth certificate ?

I called CMP,they are closed.I also sent an email.was hoping to get a quicker answer here.

If you were a commissioned officer, the DD214 will be enough. If enlisted, you will need your birth certificate or a passport.

CMP South is a great place to visit and spend money.

A passport or birth certificate will do as well.

FWIW:

I got a reply from the CMP today.A marriage certificate will work as long as it states where you were born.

Do yourself a favor, get an official copy of your birth certificate, and keep it in a safe place.

Is always good to have an original of your birth certificate handy; your DD214 works if you are a veteran or retired from military service as well.
