I got an email from the CMP, it said they have M1 stock sets in. Does anyone know who makes the stocks?

M1 GARAND STOCK SETS FOR SALE. The CMP has a limited quantity of Garand
stock sets for sale. These stock sets are newly manufactured in the USA,
consist of Black Walnut with linseed oil finish. The stock set closely
resembles WWII era M1 Garand stocks in fit and finish. No bulky areas or
unsightly metal to wood fitment when compared to current commercial
offerings. Set includes stock and front and rear handguards. Stock set does
not include metal of any kind. Stock sets are pre-fitted to insure easy
assembly. Each stock hand stamped with CMP cartouche. Price $118.95 plus
$8.95 S&H. Listed as NLU 082 in the 'Commercial Parts' section of  the CMP

No...but I found it particulary bothersome that they're raising Garand prices again.  Is the supply shorter than we thought?

Orest Michaels has said that the CMP will announce the details of manufacture next weekend.

As a hint, he also said, "If you don't want anythis made by Boyds, then don't order these. I didn't think folks were that set against Boyds. I would have thought that if one got a product they were satisfied with, then it wouldn't matter who manufactured them - or who reworked them to make them fit."

i just got mine in, installed the stock set on the rifle, and it's FABULOUS!!!!!

absolutely gorgeous!

[

a hundred twenty bucks was NOT too much to pay to cradle my 1942 Winchester in authentic American Walnut instead of that crappy looking beech with original handguards.

hardware fit perfectly.  i took shims out of it on disassembly, and didn't bother to reinstall 'em.

damn that thing is pretty...

From the CMP discussion forum about the stock sets........"Manufactured by Boyds - then reworked for us by Dupage. You're way too far out in front with the question on finishes, etc. Right now we're just floating a test balloon."

I received two sets today.  Very nice wood.  Mine need a little work with steel wool and then a few more coats of BLO.

Definitely worth the money.

Got mine yesterday. I'm satisfied with it, should look real nice with a little more oil.
