[ARCHIVED THREAD] - CMP turnaround time? Springfield or H&R

Thinking about ordering my first Garand, and getting it from the CMP. On the website it says allow 45 to 90 days for delivery. Whats been your experiences with how long it has taken them to get you a rifle from the time you mail paper work to the time you get the rifle. The only reason I ask is because the 90 day mark makes it real close to the time I will be out of town on vacation and would hate for it to show up while I was away.

I was planning on either getting the Service grade Springfield or H&R, just haven't decided which yet, any thoughts?

ETA: what are your thoughts on the rack grade M1 carbines?

I put my order the week before Christmas for a Field Grade and a Service Grade. My Field Grade arrived January 16th. My Service Grade has still not arrived yet. Both are Springfields

If it gets close to vacation time and you still have not received it there should be no problem with contacting the CMP and asking them not to ship it until you get back.

I put in my order for HRA SG 1-19...they emailed me saying they got the order 1-31. Havent heard from them since.

Both of mine from receipt of order to delivery has been 1 month. Both times I sent a money order with my order. I think that this might have something to do with it.

I am very pleased with it overall. The wood needs a little refinishing but the metal I am going to leave as is.
