I'm no expert on reloading, but have reloaded thousands of rounds in the last several years.

New to me is useing WC844 and 62gr. pull downs. I'm wanting to keep the OACL down to

2.245 plus or minus .0002. Most it seems try to hit about 2.250 with this combo, but I'm getting

large variances (up to ten/1000ths.) with these crap pull-downs, so I'm loading them short. I'm

going to test various powder weights until I'm satisfide (24 to 25.5 grs. somewhere in there).

Is this the right way to go about this? Thank you.

Bullet seating depth is set by the ogive, not the tip of the bullet. The tip of one bullet to the next will vary. Use your calipers to measure a few different bullets and you will see what I mean.
