| Anyone have one? Advantages/disadvantages over the -7 or Commander? |
| NutnFancy did a video review in 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oY0HQx3g_SE Say what you want about the channel, but I like this review it's a good one at only 12 minutes. |

I have a Super 8, as well as a Super 7. Had and sold the Commander, so I won't comment as to that knife.
The 8 is a bit bigger, both in hand and pocket, than the 7. It fits the hand better than any other knife I own. The belly makes it a better slicer than the 7, but the point would make it a great piercer in a SD encounter. Both are very different knives, and are my main two EDC blades. Get both! |

I own a regular 8 and its great! Took it and a Roadhouse on deployment and I mailed home the road house.
Get the regular plain blade version and its easy to sharpen with a diamond stone. It has survived a deployment and is still going strong, one of the best emersons yet. I have a CQC 7 Mini, CQC 11 (awesome knife), Specwar A and B, Commander and a BM Super CQC 7 besides the roadhouse and the 8. The emersons last a while if you use them and keep them sharp. I used the Commander for about 4 years and the 11 for about 4 years. I got the 8 in 2010 and expect a another year or two out of it. I use my knives but dont abuse them keep them sharp and carry one everyday, cutting hose, cardboard, plastic, paper, and eveything else you could imagine one might cut in the military. Bottom line they are well built knives and worth the money. |

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'm going to get one. I'd rather have the Super 8 but I can get a regular for a whole lot less. Keep an eye out on the secondary market for a used Super 8. I have bought all four of my Emersons used, and was able to buy them at much more reasonable prices than new. A lot of people buy these knives, and they instantly become safe queens. You can pick up models that have never been used to cut anything more than air at pretty fair prices if you keep your eyes open. My first Emerson was a lightly used Super 8. |
