The short answer is DSA.  That is, if you want an off the shelf rifle.  Do just a bit of research into the topic and you'll see that you can build you own very easily.  You'll need to find somebody in your area with the right tools, but by doing it this way, you'll get the highest quality at the best price and you'll get it EXACTLY the way you want it.

No one is recommending Ohio Rapid Fire?  Odd.  I hear a lot of good things about them.  I haven't seen an ORF FAL, but my dad ordered one, so when it shows up, I will.  Does seem odd that there are no recommendations for them...

The have only been four replies, someone will recomend ORF.

But not me, becasue I don't have one.

I have a DSA, and they have my vote also.

I`m waiting on a post ban Para from ORF. Sent my stuff in about two and a half months ago. A little long for them from what I understand. I`m trying to be patient. BTW, DSA is great also.

i gotta say build one.
its cheaper, its not hard, its fun, its addictive.

just like cliffy said,  its a great way to get exactly what you want and save some dough.  check out falfiles.com/forums  there are ton of TX filers there and im sure you could find some help w/ your build.

even if it cost more to build than buy a ready built (which it dosent) id build myself anyway.  there's nothing quite like being able to say "i built it myself" when someone sees your FAL at the range.

I have the std ORF Fn FAL imbel reciever. I paid 550.00 Plus shipping took it toi the range and was super. I was hitting center of mass 100 yds and it was off to the the left a little reset sights and the rounds where in the X ring and fired 250 rds that day. No failure to feed or extract

I'm thinking about getting an FAL with my tax return, but am pretty sure the old lady will not stand for me parting with DSA money.

My ceiling on this buy will be around $800.

I'm looking at Ohio Rapid Fire real hard.

Before I start shooting off E-mails to ORF, Does anybody know if they will ad some by request features?

No, I'm not looking to have him build me a DSA Light Weight Tactical for $600.00. But, I was wondering if they do barrel cut downs on thier standard 21" barrels to a 16" Crowned with no brake. Just a plain crowned barrel.

I would also like to get green furniture and decent a scope mount.

I'm still about three weeks from shelling out the dough for this and any ideas, that any of you felt like bouncing off me, would be great.

Thanks

ORF will do just about anything you spec while charging you a fair price.

Another vote for DSA.

Picked up a DSA STG58A Carbine. I've been nothing but pleased with her.

I think Federal Arms Corp.. "Guns n Stuff" has DSA STGAs for a very good price. I would have bought from them had I been looking for a standard version.

Good Shooting

I don't have one from ORF, I have a dsa gun. But I have never read anything negative about ORF rifles, then when you weigh in the price...
It just makes good sense to consider ORF.

they never really carry them in stock.  you'd have to wait a good while to get it....   just something to think about.
