I hope this isn't a noob question, but are cannon classified as destructive devicesher
ETA- I figured someone here would know about the legality of this before I start building anything.

ETA2- I read the NFA FAQ. My only concern is what constitutes fixed munitions, and breechloading?

ETA3- Cuz my spelling sucks...

I hope this isn't a noob question, but are canons classified as destructive devices I am asking because my grandfather made some interesting ones out of some old driveshafts that fired baseballs and golf balls, and I was thinking about building some new ones as the old versions are long gone.  It would be muzzleloading and blackpowder if that would make a difference. Thanks in advance for any information.

Muzzleloading cannon of any size using fire or primer cord ignition are not classed as destructive devices. You only get into trouble when they are breechloading (using preloaded cartridges) versus muzzleloading, and/or where the type of ignition uses a primer or priming cap.

FWIW, for future use: Canons are religious writings, pronouncements and rules; what you are talking about are cannon, and there is no "cannons" -- the same word spelling is used for both one cannon and a field full of cannon. Use two "n's" if you want the artillery experts to give you advice.
