Well I have just had my first encounter with a large batch of decap/resize/trim/primer pocket clean for .308 and it consisted of 300 LC Brass and 50 BH Match all were cleaned in ground walnut and then sent thu the sizer which is where I have the problem I currently use Dillon case lube and was told to use it sparingly but pulling the handle after the first couple of hundred started to get tough so I have to ask how lightly do I spray them or how heavy, I put about 40 in a box lined with a cotton cloth and give them a crop duster spray roll them around alittle and let them sit about 5mins then resize, it's all done on a 550B with Dillon dies I was told the spray bottle should last thousands upon thousands of rounds I so far have used about a 1/2-3/4" out of a 8oz bottle and have sized approx 400 pcs. so I have to ask am I using to little or is my sizer/decap not setup correctly. And I am already tired of trimming with a manual trimmer, did all 350 in one sitting |

Well, I have to tell you are best set up with Imperial die wax for a case lube sizing rifle brass! Plus it helps if you lube the case neck, too! That is another reason why I really do not like sizing on a Dillon other then handgun brass, but hey a fellow has to do what needs doing....Did you not mention that this LC brass was once fired from possible machine gun use? You know that you need to keep the BHA brass seperate from the LC brass? Are you trimming before you size? |
I use a cookie sheet lined with a couple paper towels. I line them up spray one side on a slight angle to get a little inside the neck then rotate and repeat. Two squirts per row of cases, like your spray painting. Wait til the alcohol evaporates and you should be good to go. make sure to shake the lube up first and keep it warm, room temp anyways.   |
There is no exact formula, X number of spritzes for Y number of cases..........

Here's my technique for .223, I use a plastic meat tray. The goal is to get most of the brass on it's side. Spray 3-4 squirts then jumble the cases around  Keep jumbling and tilt the tray and most of the cases will be standing upright. Lightly squirt 2-3 times at a 45 degree angle to get some lube inside the case mouth  Then jumble again and wait at least one minute. A carbide expander ball helps as well for those cases that only got a little or no lube at all. |
I tumbled all at the same time in lots of about 150, I then sprayed with lube and decapped/resized, then ran all thru my MANUAL TRIMMER !!! LOL and trimmed to 2.005" I then cleaned the primer pockets All the LC is once fired MG brass that was prepped when I bought it from Scharch so this is the second time thru, the BHA brass is what I saved from shooting my bolt gun, they are separate but were resized at the same setting as the LC brass and checked with a case gage and all were good I had asked Dillon about the case gage resizing and they said to size them to where the bottome of the case is flush with the gage it reduces stress on the shoulder by not pushing it back that far. I am only using about one good pump for about 50 cases so I am most likely not using enough, I am very new to all of this so if this sounds like some stupid questions, Sorry |
that is quite possible the longest sentece that I have ever seen!  Make sure that you hit them from all angles and even get a little in the neck

| I used to use One-shot. Then I bought some Dillon lube for the hell of it. Glad I did, because it is a much better lube, messy though. I use old 9mm cartridge trays for .223 to hold the cases upright while I spray them down. One shot of lube then turn the trays 180 and shoot them again, making sure to aim down at a angle so lube gets inside the necks. .45acp trays also work well for .308. |
