| Was looking at the Redding 2400 case trimmers. Any feedback on this trimmer? I like the dial indicator on the back, seems easy to adjust. YouTube reviews seems good but the reviews on Brownells leaves a little to be desired. Should I look at other products like Lyman, Hornady, Wilson or RCBS? |

What caliber and shooting type do you think you'll be using this cutter for? If I'm reading correctly this trimmer only trims, correct? It sounds fairly precise which sounds great for low volume precision shooting. Still, you'll have to chamfer and deburr separately. For many/most this may be a real issue as it requires lots of hand work and potential hand fatigue...not so much an issue for very low round counts.
As far as precision goes, I think you can still attain that with some of the units that provide 3-way, 3-step trimming, chamfering, and deburring all in one step. You just have to pay attention to your adjustments and measuring the finished product, as you would under any other situation where precision was critical. There are different options, but I'm using a Hornady Cam-Lock unit with an RCBS 3-way cutter head with their carbide cutting blade head. This unit trims, chamfers, and deburrs all in one step, and the unit's hand crank has been replaced with the adapter that allows a battery powered screw driver to power the trimmer...fast, precise, and easy on the hands. There are other units that perform the same function in slightly different ways, but the principle is the same. |

Just a FYI, but RCBS dropped the Universal Collet on the old trimmers, since you can run into problems with the case not fully seated correctly in them and end up with different lengths of trimmed cases. Hell, just different rim OD's will cause different lengths of trimming with a Universal Collet.
I'm not going to say that the RCBS unit is machined better, but is does come with a lot more accessories instead. Take neck turning, and the RCBS does this well since the cutter is thread advanced. As for hand crank trimmers, slow as hell to start with, and would not say that they do a better job that power trimmer isntead. |

Forster Classic.
Uses a simple collet. Get the accessories you want; power driver, 3 way trim head, longer and shorter bases, extra pilots, etc. I've cut about 900 9mm lugers down to 9x18MAK. Doing a few hundred at a time is not a problem, and the cutter is still sharp. I did need to get the short base for it tho. Simple, effective, durable. |
| I use a Lyman Universal Carbide Power Trimmer. The older version, I haven't tried the newer designs. It's slow when compared to a Gracey or Giraud, but the consistency is excellent. I've had mine for 15-20 years and still can't complain about it. If it's speed you're after, I'd suggest the Gracey (with a Giraud carbide bit), or the Giraud. Personally, I don't like trimmers that require hand cranking. |

Precisely the set up that I am using. Works excellent. While in no way shape or form can I be described as someone who likes trimming -- or most case prep -- this set up makes it tolerable. |

I have a Giraud and a powdered RCBS lathe trimmer. What ever you get be sure it will take a RCBS 3 way cutter. 3 way= trim, inside debur, outside chamfer. All at once. Standard trimmer will trim. Inside debur, outside chamfer are extra steps. So what is the thread for the RCBS three way cutter? have a Powered Lyman trimmer, thought about the three way cutter before, back burner till your reminder. |

It is not comparable with the lyman though. I made a thread adapter and used it but the results were not up to my standards, so I bought an rcbs trimmer. |

I use a RCBS Universal Case Prep Center with 3-way, carbide trimmers. First pass accuracy is +/- 0.003", which is fine for blasting rounds, but for match prep I actually under trim the brass and then run them through a second pass to get them exactly to length.
Never used the Giraud, but hear it is better. YMMV |

The Giraud is the Ferrari. Fast and does a great job. The only choice when you have 1000 cases to trim.
Attached File If you're only doing 50 at a time, I don't mind using a lathe type trimmer. I have the RCBS model. I've powered it in the past, but with only a few to do, I generally just hand crank it. |

What do you guys think of this trimmer?
Sinclair Wilson Ultimate Trimmer It looks to be prescise, but I dont know if it accepts/can use the RCBS 3Way Cutter. Does anyone here have one of these? I'd love a Giraud, but it's just not in the budget for me. |
