[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Case Trimming Question

If my re-sized .223 cases are under 1.760", but over 1.750" do I still need to trim to 1.750", or am I good to go for reloading?

It depends.
For accuracy, you want all the cases to be the same,, for plinking, as long as they are under 1.760 you're OK.

If you have one case at 1.75 and one at 1.76 and the bullet seating die set at whatever it is, shouldn't the OAL for both be the same ? Once the ram is all the way up to the seating die, it don't know any different or does it ?. While how much neck is holding the bullet will vary and pressures will change with deeper seated bullets, am I wrong ?

For plinkers mixed lengths don't matter.

A consistent length is necessary if you roll crimp. Not so critical for taper, Lee Factory Crimp die, or not crimping at all.
