Kind of a "tweener" dia.
30-30 would use .309-.310 normally. 7.62 x 39 would use .312-.313 normally. Or could be used for either. If you have them, give them a try, BUT just load 1 and see if it chambers. You don't want to end up with a batch of bullets to pull if they don't work.

The .311 is the nominal diameter when bullets are cast from a mold designed for .308 bores. If the alloy is one that shrinks more (like nearly pure lead) then the bullets will be much closer to .308.
If you are buying commercial bullets that are sized or are as cast at .311, they can be used in a .308 bore usually without any trouble and often with good results. Check first that the bullets will fit into a fired case freely, however. This will tell you if your chamber is too tight or not to use the larger bullets. If you need to, you can size them down using a Lee push through die even after they are lubed. I'd size them to .309 for a .308 bore, but no smaller. |

As long as they chamber, too big causes much fewer problems than too small... I always choose to start large and experiment smaller when using cast.
Those plain base are more of a plinking and cowboy bullet than something you can easily push to full .30/30 jacketed velocities. |
