It is possible, just will take longer than a HVLP.

Thank you! i was just wondering if cerakote was to thick to spray with the air brush? and if so, can you thin it out?

You wouldn't want to thin it out, just use the appropriate tip size.

Cerakote is about the same constancy as skim milk, which is the rule of thumb for airbrushes.

I would get a cheap 0.8mm-1.0mm tip detail HVLP (gravity feed).

.8 is the highest I'd go, and what NIC says to use.
HVLP guns can be found cheapish.  Harbor freight has one for $35, but the one I had from there was a POS. Nic sells a pretty decent one for 40.

Yes, NIC recommends a .08mm tip, but I've have good results with a 1.0mm tip...even with the harbor freight HVLP guns

Cheap and Cerakote don't really mix.

You can find the same cheap one NIC sells on fleabay for about 25$. I consider them throw away guns. Good for hobby guys.
Their pricing on the LPH80 is decent though.
I have been using a brand called Warwick. It's an Iwata knockoff. Their mini .08 guns can be found for around 135$ and are built pretty well.

That is a guess...I am pretty confident in the number though!  It adds up quick when you are going.....constant upgrades and you find out that you need more of this and that all the time.

sure will! but it will be awhile b/c i'm finding out that it is much more costly to do cerakote myself than just send it out.............it never fails! every time i try to save money by doing the job myself i always spend at least 3x the money it would cost to have someone else do the work
