He guys I have a 80% lower that I want to put a home cerakote job on. Now my question is, do I have to block off the different areas for detents, springs or buffertube threads? Or can I just spray and go, I dont want to ruin my lower in the process. I'm a DIY type of guy and really want to attempt this myself, I have all the equipment except a spray gun which I dont have a problem buying. I tried to find some vids but couldn't, if anyone has any links to vids please post them up. Thanks in advance for the replies

just like powdercoating you need to make sure and cover all the unnecessary parts that you don't want paint in or that can mess up with added width.

If you follow Cerakote's instructions and don't overspray, you won't need to cover anything.  Cerakote should be .0005 to .001 thick, that's not enough to effect tolerances on a lower.  If you over spray, it can cause issues.

Thank you, this is what I thought but just wanted to be sure.

I've cerakote'd 4 lowers in the last week and did not plug any of the holes.  All went together just fine.
