| So I've read that you are NOT required to notify the ATF if you make a move IN state. My question is, what if I am submitting a NEW form 4 on my trust. I called and talked to one of the jerks in customer service and he was no help. If I'm submitting a NEW form 4 do I need to file a 5320.20 first? I've already sent a form 1 with my new address and it was approved. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do... |
| The guy I talked to at the NFA branch said I HAVE to fill out a 5320.20 even for an in state move. I told him he needed to brush up on his knowledge and asked to speek to an examiner to see if they needed a letter or anything, but they didnt answer and their mailbox was full. I jut want to make sure I'm not breaking any rules. |

For instance, if you ever sold it then the addresses on the old forms and the F4 transfer wouldn't match. I've also heard of some examiners pushing back on 5320.20s for temporary travel if it doesn't match...whether it's an address or a caliber/length difference. I've never moved with mine, but I have had plenty of forms approved showing a different caliber and/or length than the F1 shows for multiple SBRs. Wouldn't be the first examiner, or contractor, or dealer, or lawyer, or any of us, to give bad info. Just don't confuse recommends with requires. |
