CDNN shows them, anyone got experience? I'm thinking a 50/95 rifle 1876?

I agree about the cool factor of the 1876 Winchester.  Unfortunately, I don't think the Chapparel is up to the quality required for such an expensive firearm.  I wish I could remeber the forum I researched these on...  Its a forum related to cowboy action shooting.  However, after reserching it I decided they needed too much work for me to consider purchasing one.  I think Uberti offers one that has a better reputation.

I recently bought the 22" version in .45/75.

I like it (functions perfectly) but the rear sight leaves something to be desired.

Shallow "V" notch with no elevation adjustment.

Thus my rifle shoots 6" low at 100yds & 18" high with the ladder leaf at the lowest setting.

I'm currently looking for a simple "U" notch replacement with elevation ramp.

But other than this it's a very nice rifle.

$599 is very reasonable IMO.

Also -

My rifle w/octagonal barrel is on the heavy side.

I also don't like the crescent buttplate.

The RCMP musket version has the carbine buttplate & a round barrel.

Should be lighter & more pleasant to shoot.

Just a thought...
