I've searched and have been unable to find previous posts on the subject of finding a chrome-lined FAL barrel to put on a DSA build. Forgive me if this has been answered already (please direct me). I am very interested in a DS Arms FAL rifle, but it seems like they come with non-chromed barrels. To find out, I went to the FALfiles to try and find info and one of the mods was locking a lot of threads, and it seemed a little like he was vigorously opposed to chrome lining, and trying to talk folks into not getting or wanting a chrome lined barrel. How much that has to do with real difference in performance vs. convincing people to NOT do it for business reasons is not mine to reason why (although I do wonder), but I'm still interested in one anyways. I know DSA is an independent company (does FALfiles belong to DSA?) and I'm not saying DSA should or shouldn't do this or that, because they're obviously doing very well, I'm just interested to know: 1) if I buy chrome lined barrel and send it to DSA will they build a FAL with it or do I have to do that myself? 2) either way, where are some places I can get a chrome lined barrel? I am somewhat familiar with the arguments against 'needing' chrome lining, but then you could follow that same line of reasoning all the way to saying that we just don't need guns period. And that seems like a scary road to go down... Any suggestions?  Edited to ensure compliance with rules of conduct. |

DSA did have chrome lined barrels for sale. You may be able to have them custom build one of their FAL's for you with the chrome lined barrel. If not, then look for an Imbel mfg FAL barrel from Brazil. Most of them, (90%?), are chrome lined. Mine is. It's pretty accurate as well when you feed it good ammo. Mine likes the Winchester 150 gr Silver Tips. 1.5 MOA using a scope of course. Not bad at all for a kit built FAL. Good luck, EMSflyer |

DSA does sell 2 different chrome lined barrels. www.dsarms.com/prodinfo.asp?number=00121G1 and www.dsarms.com/prodinfo.asp?number=00121IS The FAL Files does not belong to DSA, they just have a vendor forum there. I doubt DSA would build you a rifle if you shipped them a surplus barrel but you could ask. There are lots of top notch FAL builders out there who would though. You can google FAL parts and get some places to look for surplus barrels - they are out there if you look. |
