I was curious on class 3 weapons. I know you have to have a NFA license/papers for silencers. I need to know if my state (I am now a resident of I
ndiana) Allows burst, SBR's and silencers, and if I should go ahead and file for the paper work. I checked the NRA/ILA site and the wording is a little confusing, so I was hoping to get a little more details on what I have to do in order to aquire what I need in order to get what I want. I highly appreciate it and have a wonderful day! |

I highly appreciate it and have a wonderful day! short barreled shotguns and explosive DD's are not allowed in IN. everything else is "OK". look in the FAQ's for answers to your other questions. you do not need a "NFA license", and there is not such thing as "burst" from a legal standpoint (if it can fire more than 1 round per trigger pull, it's a machine gun - doesn't matter if it's 2 or a belt of 100). |

Roger that. I thought you had to get it stamped (NFA registered) if it was a *machine gun or silencer* isn't that a federal law? |

Roger that. I thought you had to get it stamped (NFA registered) if it was a *machine gun or silencer* isn't that a federal law? again, read the FAQ's - they get into a bit more depth on the issue. short explanation: all devices that fall under the NFA (DD, SBR, SBS, AOW, MG, silencer, etc.) require certain paperwork to go with them. for INDIVIDUALS, this paperwork will be either a form 1 (making) or a form 4 (buying). the paperwork is filled out and submitted to the ATF. when approved, a stamp is affixed to the *form*, and sent back to the applicant. you may then pick up the device you've bought, or begin building the device you wanted to build. the forms aren't "licenses". they are sent in and paid for one time for the device they apply to. you never have to renew or re-register. ETA: good luck! NFA is like AIDS for your bank account.

Hmmmm that doesn't sound good. I just wish the tax stamp could be used more then just one item. Does having this *tax stamp* also mean police officers have the right to search your house without a warrant? Bah, I'll just look at the FAQ. I appreciate all the answers and thank you for the information. |

I been doing some good old fashion researching too, but I always like to usually ask the hive on their opinion as well. |
