Has anyone had a really tough time getting the lead and carbon off the baffles of an Element2.

I've soaked them in solvent for about an hour and that seemed to help a little when taking the brass brush to it, but there is still plenty caked on the baffles.

What should I do?

Thanks

What ammo are you using and how often do you clean?

I put a couple hundred rounds of CCI Mini-Mag  copper plated round nose through mine and was expecting a big mess based on what I have read here.
When I opened it up, it was barely dirty.

This was shooting it attached to my SR-22.

Oddly enough I  just cleaned my Element last night.

What solvent are you using?

I soaked mine in Kroil overnight. There was still some carbon residue on the baffles, but it is not necessary to remove 100% of it off the baffles.

Invest in an ultrasonic cleaner or a small rotary tumbler. That will eliminate most of the manual work of cleaning SS baffles.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I like the soda blasting concept, but the tumbler seems to be the method of choice. I'm certain I can build a small one as I don't do any reloading, unless you guys know where I can get a pretty small one for around $50.

Thanks again,

Kyle

Harbor Freight:

3lb for $45
dual 3lb for $55

It's pretty easy to find a 20%-25% off coupon, or one for free shipping, and you can combine that with the sale price.

I have the 3lb version just for baffles, as I don't currently reload. I also bought the refill size pack of SS pins from here.
