How often does the extractor spring need to be pulled and
clean under the extractor?

This is on 9mm SBR's, sometimes suppressed. Also how often
on a 91?

Thanks

I would venture not until you start having extraction/ejection issues.  That spring is basically the weak link of the roller-locked world, so the less it gets messed with the better I think.

The weapons are designed to work when cruddy so I doubt HK would require the extractor to have a higher standard for cleanliness then the rest of the rifle.

You can always drop the bolt head in a small cup of oil or solvent and let it soak. Agitate it once in a while and get a good brush with long bristles. Or an ultra sonic cleaner if have one.

IIRC the MP5 armorers manual *suggests* every 1000rds.

Steve_in_29 I did have problems a while back, that's when I found out it's a
problem area.

I'll shoot for every 1000rds and how that works. And I like the idea of letting the
bolt soak in solvent for the interim cleanings

Can't imagine anything remotely often. When I got my MP5/40 I shot 700-1000rds per session & it was never an issue. Everywhere else would be much more visibly dirty..shooting suppressed really ups the ante [visibly] though.
When I shot that much I'd throw it all in an ultrasonic tank after, I'm lazy, then wipe clean (most parts NP3'd), because I'm used to humid environments where rust is prevalent.
