The Tipton one-piece carbon fiber rods are the best IMHO and I own cleaning rods made by nearly every company. A bore-snake is a nice to have extra, but DO spend the few extra dollars on a “bore guide” that replaces the bolt in your receiver. The bore guide will make it much easier to clean from the breach end and will protect against damage. While I have three (multi section cleaning rods), I generally avoid using them.
The Otis (IMHO) is a worthwhile “bug-out” cleaning kit and I have one – but it requires proprietary patches and I would never use it as my primary cleaning device. Out of the selections you listed, I would choose the Gunslick kit as the 43-inch rod section would probably be long enough without the extension and it also includes a bore guide. |
| I have a .50-.54 cal Hoppes muzzleloader boresnake (#24020) for quick cleaning... and bought the .50bmg cleaning kit from Armalite. |

What do you guys use and WHY? I bought 3 shotgun cleaning rod kits from Kmart, total cost about $10. |
