In the attempt to purchase an M1, I've been trying to join an approved club.
Over a month ago, I sent a check to the M1 Collector's club. After two weeks of nothing, I tried to contact them to ask if they had my check, or if I should put a stop-payment on it. No responses to emails, no check cashed. Nothing. Nada.
So two weeks ago, I sent off to a TN club, same objective. Same results, so far. Only they had communicated with me via email before the check was sent. My question: So how long does one have to wait to get into a club? What kind of times did arfcommers see? At the current pace, it may take longer to join a club than to get the rifle! I knew in advance to be patient - but we all know that's just supposed to be waiting on the CMP folks to actually do their jobs. I never figured it to be private companies pulling the same crap. |

My retired ID card was good to go for me.

Over on the CMP forums there is a post about the GCA being 4,000 applications behind for membership and they are working hard to process them all since Sept 1st is the renewal deadline. One guy posted he sent in his application July 1st and his check cleared August 20th.

I just sent them an email asking when my membership application would be processed, and I received this auto response from their email address.
Please note: Due to sudden illness, there may be short delays in replies to communications and processing of membership applications. We Value each and every member and non-member equally, please bear with us during this difficult time. We whole heartedly apologize for any inconveniences caused and look forward to getting back to life as usual ASAP.

i've been wanting to do this but can't find a club in my area... Here you go. You don't have to participate in any events or anything. Just send in $15 or so to get a membership card, and I'm pretty sure you can join a club even if it isn't in your area. http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/clubSearchSubmit.cgi?clubMembership=OPEN&state=KY |

I concur, join the GCA. I have been a member for many years. Now I am 60 and can buy without the extra requirement. Too bad the person in the White House just banned the the sale of all the Garands and M1 Carbines from S. Korea. Citing the "large capacity weapons could fall into the wrong hands". Just another step...
