Has anyone here done business with them? www.coledistributing.com/ M1 .30 Carbine USGI 15 shot Pre-Ban Magazines.Excellent condition. Most are blued some are parkerized. $9.95 each or 10 for $90 M1 .30 Carbine 15 round Pre-Ban Magazines. Very Good (80% original finish). $7.95 each or 10 for $70 Deal or no deal? Yes, I'm preparing. They have M1 Carbine mags, for what seem like a pretty good price. I don't know hardly anythign about the Carbine, but I guess I'll be learning. Feedback? |

Good people. JohnRipperts post gave me my first look at the 80% mags. I have bought a few batches of the excellent condition carbine mags (10 for $90) from Cole's and by the pics in Johns post Cole's really grades them well. For $2 more per mag the excellent were in better condition with no rust at all and better blueing. Probably don't work any better but look less tired. You can trust Cole's. Thanks for the pics John. |
| I ordered 20 G3 mags from them and a couple small items. The order arrived in a couple days but it was short 8 mags. I e-mailed Roger and he apoligized and shipped the 8 mags the next day. Mistakes happen, it's how a vendor recovers from a mistake thats important. I will be ordering from them again. |
Judgeing from what I'm seeing out there and from reports from people who have bought these, I'd say grab them. I have a commercial carbine that I'm just getting to testing, so I only ordered 5 of the $7.95 mags, but if it runs OK, I'm probably going to order 10 more. Either way, I doubt you'll lose any money on them. The price of carbine mags isn't likely go go down anytime soon. |
Yep. And 10 for $120. Dammit, I have to order some now. |
Are you sure you're not thinking about Old Sacramento Armory? It's all over the net that they pulled that. After scoping a gun show this weekend I decided to order another set from Cole's, this time the 80% ones. We'll see what happens when they process it in the morning. ETA: Uh Oh. I see the update now. I wonder if I got my second order submitted in time. |
|
I just talked to the order rep at Cole's this morning and they charged me the old price, probably since I got mine in before the change on the web site. To bad we can't say the same about Old Sacramento Armory.
There's also KY Imports. I don't have any experience with them, but a few people report good luck with them. Thread HERE and a few other good reports on Jouster. |
I called them earlier to give them my CC info and I got in under the wire as well. (but only ordered 5. D'oh!) They're still not too bad a deal at 12/$120, though. |
|
I ordered the "10 for $70" on the 8th and got them on the 17th. When I saw the condition I immediately called and ordered some more of the "10 for $70". I emailed them today to see what the status of my order was since I normally get and email from them. Their reply was that they had no record of my order but that I could get some for $120 for 10. I checked my credit card and sure enough there is a charge for the order they "have no record of" dated the 20th. I've sent them an email for an explanation of why I'm being charged for an order they "have no record of"........ |
Are you sure the charge isn't for the Jan 8th order? They sometimes post a little late. Just a thought. |
According to a post this morning on Jouster the 15 round magazines received are USGI. Sounds like they're the way to go for now. No word on the 30 rounders. |
From what I have read the USGI 15s are the most dependable mags. The Carbine is a small rifle and I think it looks better with a 15 rounder if cosmetics is a concern. Mostly all my AR mags are USGI 30 rounders only because they are so plentiful and cheap + the straight 20s are scarce. I think the 20s look better in the AR15s but the 30 do function perfectly. Not sure about the 30s in the carbine. |
KY iMPORTS INCREASED THE PRICE TO 10 FOR $110. WEBSITE STILL LISTS OLD PRICE, BUT CALL AND THEY'LL TELL YOU. I SHOULD HAVE JUMPED ON COLE'S WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE. |
No, both charges are on there. I'm hoping this is just an isolated glitch with them since I've always had good service from Cole's.... |
Well, that didn't take long now, did it?
Me too. On Sunday, I was kicking myself for spreading my magazines over 2 orders since it cost me another shipping charge. Now I consider myself lucky. I placed my second order only an hour before the increase!

Checked the prices at a gun show this weekend. Yikes! |
|
Do you think the vendors raising their prices a bit in anticipation of the release of CMP carbines? By the time the carbines come out and everyone is looking for mags the new prices will be the norm. Can't say the vendors are gouging. It's just a supply & demand thing. Let's see 30K more carbines 10 mags for each=300,000 mags. Yep demand will be up. BTW, wessono. I am sure Cole's will take care of you. There is only one vendor I know of that would destroy their reputation for $100 and it's not Cole's. With their ordering system I could see how they could easily make a error. Keep us up to date & good luck. Mike |
UPDATE - I received an email from Cole's. They said they had looked under their "pending" orders and found nothing, but when they looked under the "shipped" orders, there it was. Like I said earlier, I was hoping it was just a glitch since I've always had very good service from Cole's in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if the rush of carbine magazine orders had something to to with the confusion.. |
All's well that ends well. |
|
My first 10 magazines arrived from Cole Distributing. These are the 'excellent' grade magazines which were $90. I opened one pack of five and they are exactly as advertised: USGI bright blue finish with minor handling marks. Even at $120 for 10 it still beats gun show prices. |
Mostly $10-12 for rusty pieces of crap, but one dealer was selling magazines comparable to the ones from Cole for $15. He had one that was like looking in a mirror. Really beautiful magazine. 30 round magazines go for $20-30, but I haven't yet done enough research on how to spot fakes yet before I take a chance on one. I'm pretty happy with the 15 round magazines anyway. It's kind of like the straight 20 in an AR. It just looks right. |
Thanks FishKepr. Now I don't feel so badly about not having gun shows near me. I live in RI and I am surounded by MA & CT. Even if there is a show in the Peoples Republic of MA I couldn't buy chit because I am not a resident. CT is very restrictive also. |
|
I did a closer inspection tonight and discovered that one of the magazines has a deformed feed lip. I sent an email to Cole so I guess we'll see how they handle this. So, lesson learned: Inspect those magazines thoroughly! ETA: Just got a reply. They're going to replace the magazine. So, as others have posted they have excellent customer service. |
| This is going to be good timing for me. I have a trip planned in April to North Carolina to see my sister and her 2 girls while her Marine hubby is in northern Iraq running a airbase. On the way home I will stop by the South Store and pick up a few cases of Greek .30-06 and a couple of rifles. I had originally planned on a FG Garand and maybe a couple of woodless Danes but now it looks like a carbine or two and maybe a Garand. |

I got some from Coles [M1 carbine mags] just before they closed for Christmas Holidays. Great shape and a definite good deal. I'd buy more cept for I ran into a guy selling some 30 rounders and grabbed those instead for $12 apiece. [I got the 10 for 90 deal] BTW, all of the one's I got from Coles were blued in like new condition. Mix of makers. Buy em now, I predict M1 carb mags will get scarce when the CMP dumps carbines in a month or so. |
| I just received three of the excellent mags from Cole's, and I am not sure if I'm that happy with them as they are all parkerized. 2 Winchester and a Inland. Whoever parked them did a nice job and there are no dents, scratches etc. but they just don't feel original not being blued. And I was hoping to get a Underwood to match my carbine LOL. I was thinking of ordering more, but I don't want to end up with more parked ones. Maybe I should just be happy I got 3 GI mags in nice condition. |
| The 20 mags I bought from Cole's were all blued. I just got my carbine from Fulton and ran through all 20 mags. They all functioned flawlessly. I shot about 400 rounds total and it was a great day. Damn, that carbine was fun. My son joined me at the range for about two hours and I had a hard time getting the carbine out of his hands. Now he wants one too. |
| I bought 20 of the $7 mags about 6 months ago & all were blued & great shape. They were each in their own plastic bag & COVERED in cosmo. At the beginning of January I placed another order for 20 $7 mags & when I received them, all 20 were parked an ugly, gray color. They don't look as nice as the orginal blue mags & I don't think they are worth $12 a piece if that's how Coles is selling them. All 40 are USGI & in great shape with a wide range of manufacturers. |
|
I haven't unpacked all of mine yet, but the first 5 were parked. I'm not complaining. Parked, blued, who cares. If they're USGI and the function, that's all that matters to me. Edit n/m, I found the fulton armory link. |
I think we had better get used to higher priced and lower quality mags as the CMP carbine sale date nears. |
