Milspec small pin on guns that left the factory as machineguns. Large SP1 type front pin would have left Hartford as a semiauto and was subsequently converted by someone other than Colt to FA. I’ve seen many converted large front pin transferable Colts that were advertised by the seller as having been converted by Colt. Every Colt m16 SME has said this was not something Colt ever did. It’s likely that at some point during a transfer, Colt was listed as the manufacturer on a form-3 or form-4, and it stuck for all subsequent transfers. |
