A local gun shop has a WW2 reproduction of a Colt. It was supposedly made at the begining of 2001 in limited production and I guess it came from the Colt custom shop. Anyone know anything about it???? |

Nick, Colt made a 4,000 unit or so production run of 1911A1 pistols on series 70 frames. They were priced upwards of $800-1000. Some criticized the roll marks as not being completely WW2 accurate and the gun as being overpriced. The one I saw looked good. I agree that they were overpriced. If you go 1911Forum.com some owners posted pics of theirs, and they had a more in depth critique.HTH |

Thanks for the info. The info is for a friend as all my guns are shooters and this seems to me to be a collectors. I don't see myself paying over $800 for a plain jane 45. As a matter of fact I just ordered a Mil-Spec Sprinfield that I will customize to my tastes. |
