So...

For the most part, I have been an ammo snob and have always used copper washed CCI in my 10/22 and 22 pistols.

Obviously, those days are over and I have to lower my standards. I am starting to finally find some 22LR but it's all lead.

From a cleaning and maintenance point of view, what will I need to do differently? I have an AAC Element2 that has stayed reasonably clean with copper washed, will lead be different?

Thanks for any help.

I shoot a lot of 22's.  I used to use CCI but like you, I have switched.  I do nothing different to clean.

I find that the more costly the ammo, the fouling seems to be less. I own a Spectre and it is easy to clean, so not a big problem. Like you said, you buy what you can find. Hard to be picky with the availability of ammo today.

There shouldn't be any difference in cleaning between copper washed or lead as long as both are properly lubed from the factory. Either one missing the wax/oily lube on the bullet itself will foul up a barrel or suppressor fast. I rarely use copper washed ammo since the vast majority or what I shoot is the higher end stuff from SK, Eley, Lapua, Wokf etc. None of the expensive brands use copper washed bullets.

My son and i shot about 200 Mini Mags, 100 Blazer, 200 Federal Automatch, and 50 Piney Mountain tracers yesterday. A mixture of lead and copper.
The Hoppes bore snake with some Ballistol on it cleaned it out beautifully in three pulls.
