I was out blasting away and when reloading,my thumb rubbed this tag when I put the shell in. I cycled through the shells, emptying the weapon and found this. The metal is close to flat and the plastic is curled, exposing the metal inside the lip. Could this have caused a catastrophic failure? Either way, I'll be inspecting all the ammo I use BEFORE loading it into my bangsticks. Oh,and no,I never set the date on my camera.

No, it would not likely cause a catestrophic failure.  The shell might not completely chamber, and cause a jam, or might not extract properly if it did chamber.  If it chambered and you fired it there also may be some gas leakage near the head, but this also would not cause any serious problems, just an annoyance.

Shotguns have comparatively low chamber and barrel pressures, so something like this is generally a reliability issue rather than a safety issue.
