If I were to do a SBR conversion on my GSG is the barrel registered or the gun? DO I have to have the receiver engraved? |
You can send it to Gemtech and they can do it. then it will be transferred to your NFA dealer on a form 3, then transferred to you on a form 4. You should do a Form 1 then you can convert it yourself or hire someone to do it for you. |
First you have to purchase a GSG-P (because you need the serrial number) Then you would do is to print out two copies of a Form 1. Look in the Class 3 section they have a link where you can do this. You will need to print them front and back on one page. There is also a citizenship form that you will need to fill out and sign. Get two passport sized photos of yourself and glue onto the paperwork. Fill out that paperwork front and back then go see you CLEO and have them sign it. Get fingerprinted twice on the FBI blue cards. Write a check for $200 and send to the ATF. Wait 8 weeks or so and then when the stamp comes back, then you can add a stock. (I like to send out the reciever for engraving while I wait on the paperwork) Here are the form links: NFA Forms ETA: This is just a quick guide you will probable have more questions once you print the forms. Thanks for the info ndgunguy. Never thought about doing a SBR till the GSG5P came along. Already got the pistol, knew kinda what it would take, just not details. You have summed it up nicely. So the receiver needs to be engraved???With what??? Please excuse my ingnorance, just not up on this particular item. Regards, |

I just want to make sure I understand this. If I want to do a SBR I have to put my name and State on the firearm? Can it ever be resold or is it mine forever? Is there any other options to this? Like if Gemtech did the conversion could it have there name and state on it? Guys sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure it's something I want to pursue. |
