Been shooting for over 60 years but never SG.   Have a armory of revolvers, pistols, rifles, etc.  At my age I am not thing of building a defensive shot gun just another home defense firearm with a weapons light attached.  I am looking at two moderately priced pieces and would like a opinion or two on each.  First is a new Mossberg 500 Security Shotgun 12 gauge with Magpul SGA adjustable stock SKU # 50598.  Second is a lightly used Remington 887 Nitro Magnum.  I just want something that functions well and would search more but time is pressing.  Thanks for any help.

I'm a Remington fan but both are great guns. But I also trust new guns more then used ones. See which one feels the best when you pick it up and point it. Shotguns are seldom aimed at anything they are normally pointed at the object.

Both are decent.  Of the two I prefer a standard stock, but you might like the adjustability of the other.

As stated above, handle them both and see which one fits and feels better.  You won't go wrong with either one from a quality standpoint.

I would not recommend a Remington 887. Get the Mossberg.

My favorite pump is the Remington 870. Mossberg 590A1 is second.
