Hey I'm trying to reload 300 blk using 180gr sp and 4227. The Hodgdon manual says to use a coal of 2.210, but this doesn't line up with the Cannelure.

Should I just use the lee factory crimp at this oal or can I shorten the round a bit so the Cannelure lines up with the case?
I trimmed the cases to the length specified in the manual, 1.363".
Regardless, I'll start low and watch for pressure. I'll make a few dummy rounds and cycle them through to see if they get shortened also.

This is for a 8.5 suppressed SBR.

It's just that my 5.56 rounds line up perfectly with the cannelure so this is new to me

The cannelure certainly is for a different cartridge. Ignore it. Crimp if you have to, but if your neck tension is good, you don't need to.

How far is the cannelure from the neck?

If the data lists that COL and you don't know that it will work shorter, trust the data for now. Does a dummy round feed manually?

Last thing, test without your suppressor. Make sure it is stable before you test it suppressed.

Also, subs work backwards start HIGH and work down into subsonic land.

Don't worry about the cannelure, set OAL with the .250 ogive at the front mag bump method.

Sharpie line is at the .250 point of the ogive.
