How effective are they? whats their effective range? how accurate are theywith and without scope? how silent are they? are they a good alternative for silent sniping? |
All I know from first hand experience is that if you shoot one strait up it takes a looong time to come back down, and when it does the sound is a extended "wooosh - thwap". (kinda hard to hear over the running and cursing) ![]() Yes, I/we really did this. Yes, we did it a lot more then once. Yes, we were about 17 at the time. No, no one got hurt (except the one time my brother took a spare bolt and stuck it through his pant leg. Our friend freaked out and smacked him around when he found out my brother wasn't stuck to the ground) Would I do it again? NO! it was dumb, stupid and ... well maybe just once more for old times sake. |

Pistol accuracy and range. A scope helps a little They are not silent but they a much more quiet than a firearm. If you are line of sight and without back ground noise when one is fired, you will hear it easily within 75- 100 yards. As for silent sniping, you won't get an instant kill. If you hit vitals, the target will take a few minutes to die. |
not very 35-40 yards 4" groups at 40 yards pretty loud.... no way A compound bow would be a better choice. Much MUCH quieter. lighter. Better accuracy at range. But, with any arrow, anything deflects them, the kill is not instant or even very quick unless it's a head shot, and you only get one shot. There's a reason guns were invented, lol. best close range(bow range) silent sniper is a suppressed .22 |
