Has anyone herd anything form Dan Coonans (DCI) on his receivers? My last email from him him was from back on 1/22/07. I am number 992 in line for a receiver. With that many orders seems like he would be producing these things again. Am I missing something? |

From the NoDak Spud web site: "UPDATE: 4/25/2007 We are currently sold out of all available DCI FAL receivers. We are waiting for more from DCI, and we don't know when we will get them. DCI is not in current production of FAL receivers at this time. We do not know when Dan Coonan (DCI) will get it together." It doesn't look good for production. I have read some threads on the FALFiles and other boards that state the there are 300 receivers that are sitting on the shelves and no schedule for finishing. It sounds like Dan Coonan has lost interest in the project. |

This is what I got back from Mike over in the industry section. It doesn't look good... "We have sold out of the first batch of 300. The second 300 are sitting on a rack in the shop. They need several operations done to be finished. DCI is responsible for the production side, and we are the marketing side of this product. Dan Coonan (DCI) is not doing anything to get the second batch done. He seems unable to motivate himself to do work like a normal person. Harlan and I have tried every angle to get him to motivated. Nothing is working, it's sad. I don't anticipate that these parts will ever get finished. Once I get the AR program squared away, and get a couple more CNC's in the shop, NoDak Spud will look at doing our own FAL receiver. It probably won't be this year though." |
There is definately a market for receivers, but no one wants to step up. ORF still has a picture of a partially milled FAL receiver on their web site that they will NEVER EVER produce. Entreprise is at least still making 'em though I haven't seen any of their new ones come off the line yet. DSA is still the best option right now, they are still making them but wait time is about 3 months (that's what it took to get my Type 2 from them). If you are not impatient (like I can be) sign up at falfiles and order a DSA. You can get it for $350.00 for being a member over their, but you will wait. Good luck on your quest. mfn |
