I was wondering if I could buy a reciever with the barrel pressed in and the trunion welded.  Then complete it over time with parts I find for cheap.  I have the capability to do everything but the welding/barrel pressing.

Am I on to something or is it totally impractical?

no one offers what your looking for, even if they did i dont really see a bennifit. plus you need to weld a pin in the fcg box and weld a shelf in the grip housing. And add in the fact that it's allmost cheaper to buy a complete gun...

Didn't know about the additional welding.  I was thinking only of the trunnion.

 Damn.

Tig or Mig

Obviously TIG is prettier but would a Mig cut it?

I'm quite comfortable with slightly ugly yet still serviceable as hell type looks.

mig should cut it, though some may argue that. mig would be fine for the trigger pack and grip frame.

do you mean pressing the barrel into the trunion or the trunion into the receiver. The trunion just slips by hand into the receiver. as for the cocking tube it;s just three welds. two plug welds in the receiver and then the butt weld where they meet. it also helps when welding the cocking tube if you build a alignment jig. these are realitivly easy to build if you have some tools. I built 2 last saturday.  so if you have any O's...
