[ARCHIVED THREAD] - DIY scope reducer?

Howdy, looking to make some make shift scope ring reducer's until I can afford some Delrin scope reducer's, currently broke!

I have a 30mm scope mounts which I really like and 1" scope. Was thinking on applying electrical tape on the scope until it is the correct diameter for the mounts, will this work?

If you have access to a lathe, go nuts.
And no, the electrical tape idea is an ixnay.......

Tape wont work, it will compress and allow flex. It will have the tube moving all over the place.

Save up and buy the proper inserts, its not worth the damage to the scope tube from tying to use other stuff as a "good enough" solution.
