Ordered from Atlantic Firearms, to my local dealer. Fairly straightforward ordering process on-line, even for me. Delivery to the FFL was pretty quick. This is the "Cuban" variant with wood buttstock, polymer fore end, and low sights, all as ordered. Got a call from the FFL and picked up the rifle that afternoon. Rifle was well packed in a plastic rifle case in the usual long cardboard box. Inside was the rifle, a steel DSA marked 20 round magazine, a light sling, and the usual manual and paperwork. Rifle was clean and showed evidence of being test fired. Lightly lubed and bore was bright and clean. The metal finish was even and in good shape on all finished parts. Operation was normal, with only a drop of oil being required to loosen up the charging handle. When I got to the range, I only allowed time for basic shooting on the 25 yard range, mostly for function. I had monkeyed with the gas setting and had left it open to dump most of the gas. Fired a few rounds as single shot before dialing up more gas for function. Four clicks put me in the sweet spot, with reliable operation, brass ejecting at about 3 o'clock and across the deck. Used some Federal white box M80, and some AAC M80 ball. Both were excellent and shot about a dozen rounds into 3 inches. Again, function was all I was looking for until I can get out to longer range. Most shooting was with the DSA magazine, which performed perfectly and looks like an authentic mag except for the company name on the floorplate. Also used a couple of surplus magazines. Happy with this rifle. My only other FAL experience was with a Century gun which was a disaster, and an Imbel Izzy FAL (heavy barrel) SAR which has been great, but heavy. One thing Atlantic did was to text me and verify that the horizontal action lever would be acceptable rather than the vertical as advertised. I prefer the horizontal lever, so I was pleased. No regrets. I think I have paid my dues with past adventures. |

Good to hear, OP. Usually, DSA puts out good stuff. When they don't...  If you're ever gonna shoot rifle grenades, the horizontal takedown lever is recommended. Most FN's had the horizontal type. |
