| I was thinking about sending my SA58 carbine back to DSA to get a chrome lined barrel i was wondering if anyone else has had it done and if it was still as accurate as it was before. THANKS!!!!! |

the fn chrome lined barrels are avaliable in four models: 21" Bull, 21" Medium Contour with integral MB, 16.25" Carbine with integral MB and Medium Weight Tactical Fluted 16.25" short gas system. www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=88375&highlight=chrome+lined |
The Argie barrel cut to 18in shoots about 3MOA with surplus ammo (It did shoot about 2MOA with federal match & a 10X scope mounted with a DSA mount just to check accuracy) , It is very reliable, Not one problems in about 1K rds fired & Its real easy to clean, Does not get filthy like my AR10. |

garr- actually i wasn't clear, that question was meant for patriot71. An average FAL will shoot somewhere in the ballpark of 3-4 MOA with surplus ammo. I have a 21" that shot a group around 2" with irons and surplus and that one shows enough promise that i put a scope on it and will be trying it out with match loads. There are a few that will shoot close to 1moa but they are rare (not counting builds like vandenbergs). My point to patriot is this: FALs are not precision rifles, if yours is a typical 3-4 MOA then you really have nothing to lose. If you don't know how well your's shoots 5 shot groups at 100 yards then you have nothing to lose. If yours shoots 2MOA with irons and surplus ammo then i wouldn't mess with success. |
