Does anyone have one of these? I saw a show not long ago where they were showing it off. It had a 10.5 barrel and a para stock.

Now I want one. I know it's an SBR and thats not a problem, but I'd like to hear from others if they have one, the performance and of course pictures.

They have 11" or 13" barrels not 10.5

Thanks for you interest.

WOW...a whole 1/2" off in the description.

Is that all you have to say about your product?

Is this the type of customer service I would be getting if I were to order one?

On the forums I wait for someone not from DSA to chime in. BUT>>>>

I have fired many thousands of rounds through OSW including 20,000 though the same one only oiled it twice and never cleaned it. The OSW is our best selling rifle for military sales. The OSW or any short barrelled 308 makes alot of sense, because its 200+ FPS faster than a AKM with a 25 grain heavier bullet. Also because if the soft piston operation and the velocity loss its very controlable to a semi skilled shooter.

compact
powerful
reliable
durable
modular

And IMO accurate I can nail a steel at 400 meters with an 3x30 ACOG

Thanks

I ordered a 16" Para from DSA in April 08.  6 months before the election they quoted 3 to 4 months - I got it 13 months later. Their CS had some seriously weak mojo. Blamed Bloomberg, NYC, parts shortages, claimed my gun was at paint in Sept 08 when in fact they didn't even start assembly until Dec 08 ( I suspect really Jan 09).  They had in fact lost my order at least twice. My FFL gave up calling them after 6 months because of the constantly changing story as to where my gun was.  I do appreciate the CS lady who sorted it all out in January and kept me from having to start over from scratch at that point. Wasn't the experience I expected when I ordered an almost $3k gun well before the real gun frenzy broke out.

All that being said in the end, I did end up with a weapon that was well worth all the time, frustration, and money - it is the jewel in my collection.  And crazy as it sounds I am considering ordering an OSW next.

I already have a DSA rifle that I'm really fond of. I bought it at a gun show. It appeared to be brand new.  When I saw the one on the show, I REALLY liked it. I'm curious to how much velocity is lost with a barrel that short. I really hate to hear about the wait times and the customer service issues. DSA has had a good name in my opinion for a long time.

I don't know which way I want to go right now.

Option #1 Buy the gun outright already built and deal with the wait.

Option #2  Buy the front end first, the para stock next, the receiver and a parts kit last. Store the front end somewhere else before the receiver arrives. Then, do a Form-1 and put it all together.

Interesting. How does the 11" compare to the 13"?

What is the velocity from either one compared to a 16" or 20"?

I'm seriously thinking about building one.

I always thought that the 11" OSW looked friggin sweet, and I definately wouldn't mind having one, but I just never fell in love with the idea of a super short .308 SBR. I always felt that the main point of stepping up from a 5.56 NATO Assault Rifle to a .308 NATO MBR was the superior ballistic advantage, which is maximized by velocity via barrel length/twist. I still think that the best all around barrel length for an .308 MBR is 18", but if I had to choose beteween DSA's 11" and 13" OSW, I would go with the 13" model.

I would like to have a 14.5" and add a  pined QD FH from AAC or Gemtech.  That would be the shortest I would go on a 308 MBR.

Yeah.....16" including a permanently attached QD flash hider would be even better than the 13"OSW for overall versatility and ballistics.
However, I don't know how quiet such a .308 set up would be with a suppressor.

With that much gas exhaust coming out it would not be 22LR quiet, but every little bit helps.  It maybe as quiet as a SBR AR-15.  I want a SBR FAL PARA Folded OAL 27" it would be my SHTF truck gun.  I know I could make 300 yrds shoots with.

Here you go I have one its awesome. Its very controllable my little 100 pound Korean girl  shoots it. Now it is heavy with the suppressor. Also with suppressor back pressure is crazy I put some buffer tech rubber thing and it really helped out. Someone might same some crap about getting a 7.62.x39 because its the same but there wrong. I read a post on hear from someone who had both an aku and a dsa osw. He chrno both and the osw won by alot because of bullet mass the eleven inch even beat the 16 inch ak if i remember correctly. But who cares all i know is i love my osw let me know if you have any other questions
also i think there is a good deal on one in the ee someone from PA

Get some guns in Utah has 3 in stock, they form 3 it to you with out a problem.  They are running 2400 with a scope mount but no quad rail hand guard.

I bought the good one with all the rails and a socom adjustable folding stock.  I'd post a pic but I'm still waiting on my form 4 to return to me.

13 months is standard wait time.  I think they prioritize their military and LE contracts as those guys buy several and then keep buying more later.  Most of us slubs just buy one or 2.

I bought a para elite (neutered version of the osw, 13" barrel with perm attached 3" flash hider) last april. I got it this march. Long wait, and the people that answer the phones either dont know whats going on with your rifle build, or lie about it. I was told "a few more weeks" every month up until I got it.

That being said, it is my favorite rifle. I need to find a flash hider that has silencer QD capabilities, that is at least 3" long to replace the flash hider on there. I am trying to keep the gun from being nfa because I frequent states that are not nfa friendly. Anyone run into this situation?

WOW - dude, go easy on the caffeine.

DSA posted a response to your forum post within 12 minutes, and answered all your technical questions. That's great customer service. I wouldn't expect DSA to toot their own horn on the forums. Not everyone can be AAC. DSA is allowing the members here do the talking.

He didn't answer any questions on the first reply, he just critized me for stating the wrong barrel length. From the other replies I've seen in this thread, apparantly customer service IS an issue.

He merely corrected you, not criticized.

I have purchased some parts from DSA and I agree, when I called or emailed them about status, the people that I spoke with usually did not have an update on the parts.  That didn't really bother me as the FAL build was more of an as-I-get time kind of thing. However, when I did have a problem (which I ended up correcting myself) they were more than willing to fix it for me.

I have a standard FN FAL and Carbine from DSA.  They are my favorite guns.  I have purchased lots of spare parts from them (never had a DSA break down), as well as Uzi parts, and other items.  No complaints from me in many years of dealing with them. I would not hesitate to buy from them.  I have talked to them at Knob Creek over the years, nice folks.  I don't think they are deliberately trying to hose anybody.

Thats what I was starting to wonder. It seems that more people have been commenting about bad customer service and long wait times more than anything else.

I'm still curious about the performance of the cartridge when using the shorter barrel. I think an article from someone who has one would be cool. Something like they do on TV. Sit a target inside a car and shoot from different distances and measure performance. Do a comparison between the short barreled OSW and the SA58 with the full length barrel.

I think a simple chronograph of various length barrels would be plenty. I've hearthstone anything over 18" in a .308 really doesn't gain anything. Don't know if that is true but I've heard.
