| I have a STG 58 I purchased many years ago during the ban. It has an 18 inch barrel with the fake flash hider silver welded on. I am considering removing this and asking for options on flash hiders. I'm thinking the STG type flash hide would be good choice. Does anyone know of a USA made option or other options/sources?? |

The Stoll might be to long for an 18" barrel as its threads are in the center of the device and it covers the barrel by a few inches You might be right. I had a stg barrel that had the threads cut off. I'm building a para stg58/if they would have made one.I wanted the Stoll right next to the swivel band on the barrel. I was thinking it would be almost 18 inches. I don't remember so I'll need to measure |

A long time ago, I tried out every one then available on my DSA StG 58, with standard length barrel. I came to the conclusion that the greater the mass (weight) of the FH, the better the accuracy of the rifle. This one http://www.dsarms.com/p-14268-fal-sa58-belgian-type-flashider-916-24-left-hand-thread.aspx worked best, with the long Stoll being a close second.
If your barrel is shortened from standard length, this might not pertain. At any rate, the device linked will accept both a bayonet (if that is important to you) as well as the slip-over South African compensator, which greatly reduces muzzle rise in rapid fire. |
