I know this is somewhat OT for this forum - but the experts are here. I have a friend who has offered to sell his Daewoo K2 for around $900. I've heard great things about the K2 ("best of the AR & AK combined"), and like the short-stroke piston action, but have two questions: 1) Is the spare part situation still of concern, or has that improved? 2) Buy the Daewoo, or is a piston-upper AR (or the Masada) a better alternative? All input appreciated. Thanks. |
I really like my Daewoo, but when you get it you are pretty much limited to the configuration it comes in. You can send it to Azex along with a large check and get it changed around, but it's nothing like the AR in terms of customizability, having a second upper in a differenent config, etc. |

I like my DR-200. If it's in nice shape and running properly, $900 is a good price for a K2. AZEX has a nice rail for these, the parts situation is better than some people will lead you to believe. Cool factor is high for these, IMHO, but the safety sucks (it is an awkward 180 degree turn) and the iron sights aren't that great. Reliability is excellent, trigger parts interchange with AR's. |
I actually like the sights. Not very good for accuracy work but fast. I like the CQB sight integrated into the front hood. Look over the top of teh rear sight and use the ridge on the front sight hood like a shotgun bead sight. |

I had an old AR-100 sidefolder back in high school and sold it to buy some parts for my broken down VW back then.I remember I paid a staggering $365 for it back in the day and thought that was alot compared to my buddies Norinco underfolder at $219. Wish I could find that AR-100 again never seem to see them for sale anymore... |
