Ok I need some help here.... I have a Spikes dedicated .22 upper with a Spikes bolt, weight and auto trip and am having issues getting it to run. I was using Winchester bulk ammo and it would run in semi but not in full auto. It would run 2-3 rounds and stop hammer down. I then tried some CCI mini mags and it would run around five rounds and then stop hammer down they were also fine in semi.

Thanks for your help....

timing issues.  common.

Describe in detail your RR/RDIAS config and we'll see where that leads us.

Got some drill bits?  start using them as gauges to find your timing.  See quarterbore's website for instructions on doing so. quarterbore.com

Clean the 22 kit 100%, including the firing pin.

And run it with 3 in 1 oil

My experience:

Either the hammer was not catching the sear or there wasn't sufficient force from the recoil spring to allow the sear trip to efficiently trip the sear/hammer and allow the bolt to get back into battery.

To solve the problem, sufficient force was needed to allow the hammer to catch the sear and the bolt needed enough force to get back into battery without being impeded by the sear trip, sear and hammer.  I was fighting two opposite forces working against each other - which means I had to do a balancing act between the two forces.

To get the hammer to catch the sear, I used Lakeside Machine reduced power hammer, disconnecter and sear springs.

To generate enough force to keep the sear trip, sear and hammer from impeding the bolt getting back into battery, l used a Lakeside Machine extra power recoil spring (with about 10 to 15 coils removed).
