Looked today as I would like something "Extra Special" specifically for something bigger than 20mm and a high potential for FUN and a big eye turner.

So , while looking i've found a good deal of demilled rpg2s and rpg7s out there, I'm curious to know the cost/difficulty of re-activating the launcher (I know the rounds are a monster all their own).

The mechanics of the launcher are simple... I would be afraid of the rounds.

The launch motor is fairly simple, but the inertia-fired rocket motor is not.  To get a good re-mil on the launcher (after throwing a DD stamp at it) will be the easy part.  Making launch and sustainer motors that won't blow your head off, not so much.  The PG2 is a much more 'doable' re-mil, IMHO.

You could make a non-replica type round... but that would be gay.

Why not use one of the larger model rocket motors to launch the "warhead"? I would think a primer and very small charge would ignite the motor and at least give the simulation of firing a real RPG

Ahhhhh, no. Real RPG's don't go "Swiiiiisssssssssssshh" like they do in the movies. It's much more violent than that.

An RPG7 has two motors, a 'launch' motor, and a sustainer motor.  If it just rocketed out of the tube, it would blast the firer in the snot locker.  So, the launch motor fires, and ejects the projectile from the launcher.  Once it's down range a bit, the sustainer motor, which is fired by impact inerta (from launching), coupled with a short delay, fire off the sustainer motor.  It's more of a 'Boom.......swishhhhhh...booom'.  Good luck making one of those.

The RPG2 just has a black powder launch motor, which is not exotic or high speed in any way.  It has a conventional primer, mounted transversely, and a flash tube, but no moving parts, or carefully crafted rocket motors or propellants.  An RPG2 just goes 'boom................................boom'.  No rocket motor in the middle... no rocket motor at all.  Much easier to make.

If I ever get the money and the time, I'll be making one for sure.

Yep, or an M72 LAWS with a couple of training rockets. Them fuckers will probably go about a mile.

I've always wanted an RPG, but just a demilled one as a wall hanger. A buddy of mine has a beautiful, complete one that I'll probably end up buying from him one day.

Real training rockets are for LAWs are scarce.  Others I have seen are just hobby rockets fired horizontally.  They don't fly the same, and the motor in the hobby rockets burns too long.

I have a sub-cal LAW, if anyone knows where there are rockets.

A thread on AR15.com without pictures, who would have thunk it!!

EOD is on the spot about the RPG-2, would be a better platform to launch actual rockets.

On the flip side, an RPG-7 can get reactivated and you can shoot tracer rounds out of one of the Czech rocket trainers that are on gunbroker. I guarentee you take it to any range and you will be the focal point of everyone, even shooting little measly .30 caliber tracers. I've thought long and hard making mine live again but have decided to leave it as a wall hanger. I recently got the scope in from Finland, had to put it on the old RPG..
