Can anyone recommend a demist shield brand that doesn't come from the factory all scratched up?  The demist shield that came with my PVS-14 was hazy, so I bought another one from a well know supplier.  When I received it, it had swirl marks all over it and wasn't very clear.   So I tried an amber filter from TNVC and that came with swirl marks all over it as well.   You can still see decently but it really impacts the clarity.

Do they make any brands of demist shield that have a better quality lens?

You sure they don't have the plastic lens protection film on them? Similar to the film on electronics when you buy them.

it's not the film L_D.  i've recieved a couple brand new lens that had the slightest rub/halo marks that only perpetuated downhill once you tried starting to clean them.

I'm currently saving for a PVS-14, so I'm speaking out of turn. Would a scratch repair kit, such as the type for headlamps on cars work?

I am not sure if it would help.  The lens on a demist shield is very small.  About the diameter of a sharpie marker.

I am currently using my unit without the shield as it is a lot clearer.  But I hope to find a replacement that is scratch and swirl free.

I think about every demist shield i have ever seen has light swirl marks or scratches on it.

my Wilcox filter came with a plastic on it i had to peal off (just like you get on electronic screens).  i pealed it off and it was PERFECT, then the first time i wiped it off after a hike (and i used top quality lens brush and cloth) it had light swirl marks on it...its just the plastic they use, the slightest tough will leave marks.

my thought had always been for the price, i would think they would use something that would not scratch so easily....but on mine they are so light they do NOT have any negative impact on clarity.
