Had a small fleck from a brass shaving on my priming tool and didn't see it till I had 5 or 6 cases done. There is a line dented into the primers. Any adverse affect to this or should I shoot them off and reprime? I'm assuming you can't run a live primed case through a sizing die to decap it can you? Never did that before. Sounds dangerous CCI large rifle primers in a 45-70 case if it matters at all. Thanks

If they were for your match ammo.....why, take a chance?

ME......I'd use them for plinking ammo or practice.

Running a live primered case through a de-cap die comes with RISK.

Yes, folks have done it.

ME.....I'd try and kill the primer first.  Or, fire it off.  Then, I'm not about to attempt to re-use, an "unused mangled primer". That's me.

And, for those that want to try re-using a primer or don't want to kill the primer first........well, good luck.

Just shoot them as is.  I get plenty of those dents in my primers.

Also you can decap a live primer.  Just do it gently and you won't have any problems.

Thanks. Looks like I'm onto measuring out the powder then.

I have had many indents in primers from media, powder, and a few from brass like you.  I am shooting pistols, and I don't think it will be an issue.  They were very minor indents.  Maybe yours was more significant.

Also, I have deprimed live primers.  Nice and slow.  Not an issue.  (I do close my eyes and look away sometimes, y not)  The NRA reloading class instructors said DON'T DO IT.  And we both do it all the time.
