Well after using a Denver Instruments Scale for the last year in my reloading of .50 BMG and smaller calibers, I have some opinions.

First, I never knew how bad my other scales were till I got the denver scale. It is the only scale I have that will weigh a LOADED .50 CAL ROUND, or weigh a single kernal of powder dropped onto the scales.

My powder charges are within .04 = 4 1/100ths of a Grain of each other! Sorting the bullets and cases by weight has made a HUGE difference with the performance of my AR50.

I shot 6 matches in 2007 with the AR50, I had some good luck and bad luck as well.

Waco, TX a 3rd place in unlimited gun.........killed my nightforce there, sent back and repaired, cost  No charge, outstanding performance for repairs.

Thunder Valley 2 1st places and 1 2nd places and smallest group of the match.

Quantico Marine Corps Base two  2nd places and 1st place smallest group Heavy gun, 1st place smallest group unlimited

Raton, I did not place, figured out my Barrel was shot out, took the rifle to Armalite and yep it was, I had it rebarreled there.

Camp Perry  1st place in Heavy gun score, heavy gun group, unlimited socre, unlimited group, smallest group in unlimited class.

Quantico, 1st place unlimited class and had to switch scopes in heavy class, internals went out, internals completly replaced by nightforce again a no charge.

I figure a good portion of the reason that the AR50 performed so well was that the ammunition was really in tight tolerance due to the scales I have been using. case necks turned as well. But the scale made the difference in my opinion.

This is just my own take on it. If anyone wants some details on the Denver scales Please feel free to contact me.

Nick is right.  The Denver Instruments scales are the best out there.  But he is being a bit sneeky considering he is a distributor for the product.  Don't get me wrong, great product at a fair price, used by several of the top 50 BMG competitors I know personally but Nick has been selling these things for some time.

I'm saving my pennies.  Plan to buy one sometime this spring.

Out of curiosity about how many rounds did this take?

whitetailnut,

I figure I had about 2100 through it when it went south fast. It was still shooting 10" groups but would not hold anything tighter than a 10", It is back shooting single digit groups again, as well as an occasional  Oooooops  LOL
