Ok well after looking around there are several differnt kinds of loads that can be use... Personally i'm agenst slugs or 00 buck becuse of the high penatration they have and the buck can pattern so widely after hiting a coupple of walls.. But also bird shot is far to weak to use as a Defensive load.. so i've been thinking about #4 shot.. but even here we have alot of differnt load outs that can be used.. Steel? will this penatrate better then standard lead? Hevi-Shot? looks like its heaver then Lead so should penatrate better. but will it go to far as with 00? Lead? Standard ole lead rounds.. Tungston? i know nothing about this is there any other differnt matrial out there? perhaps the Gent who does the Box-of-truth would be willing to do a comparason between the differnt non-standard loads that are out there... Perhaps it would be bennfit everyone who is using a shotgun for defensive purpose's if we all pitched in a box of defensive ammo and have him compare them.. Jess |

If you're asking if using 4buck made of non-lead materials (tungsten, steel, bismuth, whatever) will cause it to penetrate to 00 buck levels, the answer is: no, not even close. You just can't get the little .24 caliber balls increased in density enough to approach 00 penetration levels. Sounds like if you stick to a normal 4Buck round, you should be ok. |

Thats the case time my man... i expect rounds to be able to penatrate drywall... just not 9 sheets of it... when i was looking at the Box-of-Truth website agian they did test #4 #1 00 and Slugs 4&1 both penatrate about 6 boards 00 penatrated 9 a slug went through them all.... i am really just thinking about the loads now... |
