Previously, I discussed an extraction problem I was having with my Safety Harbor Firearms UltraMag 50. One week ago, I finally made it to the range to test the theory out (that I had cleaned out the carbon and all was well).

I want to report that I had no problems with extraction with the 5 or 6 rounds of 50 BMG AP I was able to shoot before the neighbor cut us off. Close inspection when I got home revealed the chamber is now lightly coated in soot; before shooting, it was a light gray color. This leads me to think that David's theory of an incomplete neck seal combined with my poor cleaning habits lead to the situation I was in.

The KNS anti-rotation pins, of course, had no problems holding the hammer pin in place. The SHF hammer doesn't have a spring and pin in it to hold a standard AR hammer pin in, thus the issues I had with the hammer pin walking out.

In short: all's well; I now know religious carbon scrubbing is a part of the routine I need to stick to.

So, no more sex with the neighbor uh? No, really what was that "cut us off"?

Glad to hear that your rifle seems to be working better. One of those to write down and try to remember if I ever have that problem.

Thanks for the ARR.

Glad you got the issue worked out!

What's the new bipod setup?  I've never seen that one before....

The bipod is from VLTOR and Tango Down. I like it; sturdy and low CG. I bought mine from MSTN.biz, a site sponsor.
