| Does anyone make a lock ring that would keep its place better when moving the trimmer? |
|
I wrapped the upper threads on my trim dies with Teflon tape to hold the nut in place, now I can screw the motor off and back on and it stays in the exact same spot yet is easily adjusted if need.
It also takes up some of the slack in the threads on the motor which keep the motor from canting. |
|
I'll eventually get around to drilling/tapping for set screws, but for now, I simply got everything in adjusted properly, then hit the threads of the lock ring with green Loctite (penetrating-type). This wicks itself into the threads, and holds everything nice and tight. Quick-and-dirty, but I move my trimmer between three different trim dies frequently, and they don't ever loosen up.

Both methods are very interesting.
Now I have a metal drill bit set and a hand drill but how would I get the hole threaded to put the screw in? If I were to use the green lock tite, would there be a way to get it off if for some reason I needed to adjust the trim depth or remove it all together? |

Quoted: http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg272/dryflash3/Dies/P9170555.jpg Take a lead shot # 7 or #8 and place it between the set screw and the trimmer or die threads. The shot will form to the threads and allow east repositioning of the lock nut without putting a burr on the trimmer or die threads. Man, that is smart! |
